okie! stuff to talk about. since i've got time now, have to stop being lazy about it. latest first...just got back from first class of the gregorian chant workshop. it was ok. went through a bit of latin linguistics and pronounciation. guy who taught the class was kinda cute. haha! evoked memories of peter tan. anyway...the class was kinda big. nativity church sent an entire contigent there. think it was almost the whole choir. st stephen's me, aunty margaret and helen. but anyway, the poor guy teaching (francis), patience is phenomenal i think. there was times when i saw this "oh shit!" look on his face when trying to get us to pronounce or sing properly. he taught us simple how to read the score techniques. which actually i find easier not to use. simply cos he says to use the solfege first before singing the words. and...well, i admit, my do-re-mi isn't that good. but i think it was quite interesting class. useful if we ever do latin parts in mass.

which brings me to my next point. aunty margaret was kinda commenting she's picking up that fr khoo is beginning to become very indecisive about whether or not he wants us to use gregorian chant in church. not just her lah. the previous meeting, when diana asked if we need to use chant in mass, he says, if you want - not a must if the choir doesn't want to. apparently, there was some screw up between 2 ppl in church that involved gregorian chant in mass. and cos of that screw up...ya, i think khoo decided to lay off it for a while. weird. but, i think my choir will learn gregorian somewhere along the line. but don't know if going to use it in mass yet. and how da heck are we supposed to teach the congregation???! lol.

*spoilers alert* stop reading now if you haven't watched x-men, are planning to watch and don't wanna know what happened.

moving on. watched "x-men3" yesterday with sumi, bro and jonathan. omg. it was cool! okay, story line. movie opens with professor x and magneto going to visit a young jean grey, before she enters the school. jump into the future. the govt has discovered a 'cure' for mutations. this cure will turn mutants into ordinary people again. but we find out later that the 'cure' is actually the DNA of another mutant boy whose powers is the ability to neutralise other mutants powers who are in his vicinity. magneto finds out about this 'cure' and it's source. he takes offense at it cos to him, and the x-men also, there is nothing to cure. their mutation is not a disease. meanwhile, scott/cyclops 'hears' jean calling him and goes to alkaline lake where he sees her alive out of the lake. they have a nice hot and steamy moment of kissing. anyway, then, the x-men somehow find out that something isn't right, they go to alkaline lake to find scott, but only find his glasses. and they find jean. then, prof x discovers that jean's evil alter ego phoenix has re-emerged from behind mental barriers, giving her extraordinary powers, but being totally impulsive and unstable. (ok, i apologise. i'm getting bored with describing the movie, so i'll cut short) jean finds out that she's become something different from what she was. she runs back home. magneto finds out about her and her increased powers. he and prof x simultaneously arrive at her house, mirroring the first scene. there, prof x tries to convince her to control her power, to let him help her. phoenix emerges and wrecks havoc on the house, killing prof x. i think she left with magneto after that. as jean, not phoenix. and then, meanwhile, magneto is assembling an army of mutants to destroy the 'cure'. scene is alcatraz. he walks onto that bridge, and uses his power to carry the bridge all the way to alcatraz. there was this line "charles always wanted to build bridges". lol. ya anyway, big fight goes on. btw, cute thing, the human soldiers all learn by now, so they use plastic guns instead of metal ones. so when magneto appears with his "you homo sapiens and your guns" and does the hand thing, it doesn't work. lol. at least they learn. well, they filled the guns with the 'cure' instead of bullets. so, a lot of mutants got hit. and the x-men had to come in and have a mutant civil war instead, to protect the humans. and magneto got hit by the 'cure' in the end. so lost his powers. aw. then, the army tried to attack jean, phoenix took over and wrecked havoc again. omg! that was so cool lor. she totally disintegrated the army personnel, lifted up the sea water around alcatraz also. imagine disney's fantasia, but with real water. huge wall of water lifted up. and everything in the way was beginning to disintegrate. but wolverine was the only one who could survive. cos he heals fast see. so, he killed her in the end. sigh. oh ya, and there's a cut scene after the credits. in it, there's a hospital bed. and prof x is on it. and he wakes up and saids, "hello moira(the nurse)." and i think she replies "hello charles." gasp. i thought he was dead!! food for thought.

jean is so darn powerful now lor. but scary the way she can disintegrate people like that. i mean, she lifted the whole darn house. ok, if that's not good enough for you...she apparently survived in a a telekinetic bubble in the depths of alkaline lake! a billion gallons of lakewater must have gushed over her. and she survived. *jaw drops* sad that she killed cyclops. poor cyclops. but a good thing was...cyclops managed to see her with his own eyes, rather than through a visor, before he died. she killed the professor too. geez. me was thinking, oh my god! she killed professor x???! *jaw drops further* but she was so strong. even magneto couldn't challenge her. speaking of magneto...i was kinda sad for him in the end. cos there was this scene, old men in the park playing chess. and poor eric had no one to play with him. cos his dear buddy charles is dead. BUT, he did the hand thing, and the chess piece quivered. ooh! there was also a hint of regret also. after jean/phoenix threatened him with the 'cure', he walked away muttering "what have i done?" muahahaha! also a bit sad was rogue. poor girl had to stand by and watch the other girl hang out with her boyfriend iceman. and she thinks it's her fault cos she cannot every touch him. and "there's only one thing on a boy's mind". lol. so, she went to take the 'cure'.

partly, the 'cure' is like a salvation for people like rogue. but in other ways, i understand why magneto and others found it offensive. it's like telling them that you're the Other and you are worse off than us. it's like...(no offense to anyone at all. just drawing an analogy) white people telling black people that, hey, you're different from us, and who you are is a problem, but don't worry, we've got this thing that will cure you of being black. 'problem' depends on how you define 'normal'. the kid with the wings. he's 'normal' cos it's natural, in his DNA as a mutant to grow wings. but it's not normal according to human standards. depends on the person's POV. scary the way he tried to cut them off at first. and the poor kid who IS the 'cure'. mutants were coming to kill him for something that probably wasn't his choice anyway. you think he'd have had a say in whether or not he could help to create a 'cure'? the poor kid was locked in a room the whole day. picture those padded cells, completely white on white. and they were going to kill him. completely and utterly destroy him, cos his DNA inadvertly contained something to neutralise their powers. it's sad.

but i agree with one article i read, that this movie is more of an action flick as compare to the previous 2. apparently the previous 2 were more character oriented. much more development of character. this one, there were so many characters introduced that it was hard to really delve into any character. but overall, i think this movie was pretty good. entertainment wise. i'll give 3.5 stars out of 5.

alrighty. all for now. thanks for reading all my crap. muahahaahaha!
